Returning to Beijing: Movement, Scale, and an Evolving Practice
My relationship with Beijing has been shaped by return. I have travelled to China on a number of occasions, primarily to visit family, but each trip has also become an opportunity to observe, photograph, and quietly study the city as it moves around me. For a number of years, my work was presented under the name Habitus Prime. During this period, I explored surrealism, pop culture, and graphic design, building playful, imagined worlds where familiar forms were distorted, layered, and reused. Influenced by retro aesthetics, digital culture, and print media, the work examined identity, emotion, and perception through visually bold and often interactive compositions.
